TCHB Team Of The Week

It will probably be pretty rare over the course of this year that the team of the week will also be the #1 team in the country. But that’s what we have today. The Miami Redhawks are the 2009-10 season’s first Team of the Week. Miami had a pair of wins over our preseason #12 team St. Cloud State. On Friday, an OT goal by Carter Camper helped exorcise some demons left from last year’s national championship game, which Miami lost in OT. Cody Reichard had a very impressive night in net, stopping 22 of the 24 shots he saw from a prolific St. Cloud offense.

Not to be outdone, Connor Knapp posted a shutout the next night. The Sophomore from New York had 20 saves, and Miami got their two goals in the 3rd period, coming within 20 seconds of eachother. Jarod Palmer and Devin Mantha got the tallies for the Redhawks. Next comes another tough non-conference test as Miami travels to Durham to take on New Hampshire.

Union was actually 3rd on my list. Alaska was 2nd, but given that they had Michigan and Mercyhurst up at their place (or at least in their state) I gave Miami the nod.
