TCHB Player Of The Week

No surprise here, Merrimack Freshman Stephane Da Costa is our player of the week. Since I completely forgot to do one last week, he’s also our first POTW for the 2009-10 season. In Saturday night’s contest, Da Costa notched a natural hat trick as part of a five goal game. It was the first time in Merrimack’s 21 year Hockey East tenure that a Warrior has had a 5 goal game. He is also the first Hockey East player since Brian Gionta in 2001 to have a 5 goal game and the first player to ever have his first goal come in a natural hat trick and five goal game (Thanks to Warrior Rink Rat for that tidbit – very awesome.). If he qualified, Da Costa would lead the nation in goals per game.
The Freshman from Paris, France and his Merrimack teammates have home games vs. 5th ranked Vermont and Connecticut this weekend before jumping into Hockey East play with Boston College and BU.
