Minnesota 2, Michigan State 1: Our long national nightmare is over, the Gophers finally have a statement win. After giving up 6 on Friday to Michigan, the Gophers switched to Kent Patterson and he may have taken the job for good as he made 37 saves in the victory. Jordan Schroeder and Mike Carman had the goals for Minnesota.
Miami 5, North Dakota 5: It was just 1-1 after the 1st, but each team exploded in the 2nd, as 6 goals were scored (4 of them by the Sioux). Danny Kristo had 2 goals and an assist, while Ben Blood had [...]

Lighting The Lamp: Gophers Win!
Bemidji State 3, Miami 2: It was a re-match of last year’s national semifinal, but this time the Beavers came out on top. The Beavers scored the first two goals of the game, but Miami’s Carter Camper showed why he is a force to be reckoned with with back to back goals coming just 4 minutes apart. Then with less than 4 minutes to go BSU’s Chris McKelvie scored the game winner. In many ways, this start by Bemidji parallels last year’s start by Air Force – a big run of wins against poor competition, and then a signature win [...]
Subway Holiday Classic Preview
The most anticipated in-season tournament of the year takes place this weekend in Grand Forks, as a couple of CCHA teams and a future WCHA team step inside Ralph Engelstad Arena.
The Miami Redhawks, ranked 2nd in our latest power rankings, and Ohio State, one of the youngest and most talented teams in the country, will each take on both 2nd ranked North Dakota and 7th ranked Bemidji State. This tournament features the top 3 defensive teams in the country, and 3 of the 12 most penalized teams in the country.
Bemidji State is the highest scoring team in this tournament, averaging [...]
TCHB Power Rankings
1. Denver (8-3-1) (6-1-1) Up 2
Marc Cheverie had 58 saves over the weekend, his first series since coming back from getting slashed in the leg with a skate.
2. Miami (9-1-4) (6-1-3) Down 1
Miami fell through no fault of their own; Denver was just that good.
3. North Dakota (7-4-1) (5-4-1) Down 1
The Sioux have dates with Miami and Ohio State this weekend in their Thanksgiving tournament. Chay Genoway probably won’t be back.
4. UMass-Lowell (8-2-1) (4-1-1) Up 1
Lowell has the 7th best power play in the country. One of their weekend opponents, Maine, is the 3rd most penalized team in Hockey East.
5. [...]
Lighting The Lamp: New Number 1?
Denver 3, North Dakota 2: Brad Eidsness made 29 saves for the Sioux, and North Dakota had a 2-0 lead after 1, but Denver scored 3 3rd period goals to earn the sweep. Joe Colborne had 2 goals for the Pioneers. I may or may not have Denver in the number 1 spot come Monday.
Alaska 3, Lake State 2: Lake State had a 2-0 lead after 1, but 2 3rd period goals by Dion Knelsen tied it up. Bryant Molle won it 4:11 into overtime.
Yale 6, Brown 5: 6 Different Bulldogs scored, and 4 different Bears got on the scoresheet. [...]

Bowling Green 4, Michigan 2: Sucks might be a little strong, but something is definitely not right in Ann Arbor. Michigan had a 2-1 lead after 2 periods thanks to Louie Caporusso and Robbie Czarnik, but Bowling Green scored 3 times in a 2:22 span gave Bowling Green the upset. Kyle Page scored on a 5 on 3 power play, and then Tommy Dee got one of the 5 on 4 variety.
Cornell 5, Princeton 2: Cam McIntyre scored twice for the Tigers, but Cornell has seemingly reinvented themselves as a high scoring team this year. Blake Gallagher had 2 goals, [...]
The #2 ranked North Dakota Fighting Sioux travel to Denver to take on the preseason #1 Pioneers. Tons of great players will be featured, led by DU Senior forward Rhett Rakhshani, who is 6th in the WCHA in scoring, and 2nd in goals. Tyler Ruegsegger is 5th in the conference with 5 goals. He is tied with, among others, North Dakota’s Jason Gregoire.
North Dakota has jumped out to an uncharacteristically hot start this year. Usually they hover around the .500 mark before taking off in the 2nd half, but this year they already have 7 wins. They also sit in [...]
